Photography is a way of life. And the camera, for Ashima Yadava, a means to an end - to forever capture the glimpses of the surrounding world before the next moment takes over and the perfect story is lost.
Ashima's photography aims to capture the moments as they present themselves when colors, shades and textures unite. Moments that give you the ability to look back and remember. Moments that carry a message forward.
Born in India, Ashima worked on several documentary films before a quest for self discovery took her to San Francisco, where she now resides. Having traveled extensively across continents has helped shape her world view. She tries to incorporate in her work a fine balance between the East she grew up in and the West she now calls her "karma bhoomi" - a place of karma or work.
Ashima's passion lies in reportage with a keen eye for portraiture. Her personal projects include photographically essaying issues of gender equality, world peace and globalization. Lately she has been working on photographing a series of world musicians documenting their lives through their music.
